VideoJug has appointed Webcredible, the user experience consultancy, to carry out a usability testing project on its website to improve the experience of the three million plus visitors that come to the site every month.
Launched in September 2006, VideoJug now hosts over 43,000 professionally produced video tutorials on a broad range of topics from DIY to Beauty. Along with this vast library video content, VideoJug also encourage users to upload their own video know-how. The usability testing that will be carried out by Webcredible is primarily designed to investigate motivations for further site usage and repeat visits, focussing on features that drive user communities, collaboration and engagement.
Tom Laidlaw, Product & Operations Director at VideoJug comments "Following a successful growth period for VideoJug it is important for us to both continue our development of the site and continue to lead the online 'how to' video market. Webcredible's significant expertise in the user experience sector was a major factor in our selection as we look at ways to optimise the overall ease of use of our website and pinpoint where improvements can be made."
Webcredible's usability testing will involve a mix of light and heavy online video users attempting to perform a series of tasks on the existing VideoJug website. The tests will assess the usability, effectiveness and navigation of the site as well as the expectations, likes and dislikes of the users. Recommendations for site development will then be made based on the results.
Trenton Moss, Director at Webcredible comments, "Online video is one of the major growth areas on the Internet and VideoJug understands the importance of offering the best user experience possible to its users. Our expertise in user research and usability testing will be key in helping VideoJug take its site to the next level, focusing on attracting repeat visitors and driving user interaction through its community."
