The Cavalryman is scheduling wine openings and tastings to educate guests about the new, award-winning list. Guests may visit www.laramiesteakhouse.com or email manager@laramiesteakhouse.com to be notified about events.
The Cavalryman Supper Club features an international wine list of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Zinfandel as well as Semillon, Veltliner, Gewürztraminer, and Viogner varietals priced from $18 to $295. Wine Spectator Magazine rated the list as "Inexpensive," its highest-value rating. Only 15% of wine lists recognized by Wine Spectator achieve that distinction.
"After a year of planning and research, we've developed a wine list that includes more than one hundred excellent-value bottles that pair well with our menu of traditional steaks and fresh seafood," said Joseph Heywood, the Cavalryman Supper Club manager. Heywood likes to recommend selections from the 'Adventurous' sections of the list, which includes bottles of uncommonly high value without regard to geographic region or varietal. Many of the Cavalryman's new bottles are not available anywhere else in Wyoming.
Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence recognizes restaurant wine lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. To qualify for an award, the wine list must present complete, accurate wine information, which must include vintages and appellations for all selections. The overall presentation and appearance of the list are also taken into consideration.
The Cavalryman Supper Club is located on the parade grounds of historic Fort Sanders, established in July 1866. As part of its commitment to preserve and enhance its historic property, Cavalryman Supper Club will soon build a wine cellar to preserve and showcase its new bottles.
