Homeowners Spending More on Their Bathrooms
It was reported that the cost of decorating a bathroom is not as much as other renovations in other areas of the house, which may explain why it is such a popular choice with homeowners.
As most people are trying to save money at the moment, many have turned to doing their own repairs in the bathroom replacing things like the shower head of an old shower rather than buying a new shower for instance. It also appears that there is a current trend for improving existing bathroom designs with accessories and new decoration.
As the credit crunch prevented many people from selling their properties or buying another, the majority have decided to instead work on what they have got. Therefore, making the most of their existing property and not being in the financial position to execute a more expensive home improvement, such as a new kitchen, has meant they have chosen to work on areas such as the bathroom.
With plenty of television shows about DIY around these days, carrying out home improvements is no longer seen as only for dads with years of experience and experts of the home improvements trade. It is now seen as a lot more accessible for anybody decorating their own home to also attempt a spot of DIY and it is quite a trendy hobby nowadays too for young couples moving in together.
A spokesperson for the UK's largest shower and shower spares company, the Shower Doctor commented: 'Many people have high quality showers already installed within their homes and whilst it's nice to fully replace your shower, homeowners are opting to fix problems with their current showers and improve them through adding shower accessories or replacing the shower head.'
The survey consisting of a range of homeowners shows that more homeowners are being imaginative in an effort to improve their properties in general, but particularly in other areas of the house that don't require a massive overhaul. Other less expensive options along with bathrooms include bedrooms, spare rooms and the garden.
