Canada's First International Sevens Tournament Chooses Local Craft Beer
This event will feature an impressive international division of teams including the South African Barbarians, Dog River Howlers, New Zealand Aliens, Canadian Maple Leafs, Ambassadors Fiji Select, Kenya Select, Samurai International and Old Puget Sound (OPS) RFC. In addition, the tournament will also include the BC Summer Sevens Series circuit as sanctioned by the BC Rugby Union and Rugby Canada comprised of 16 premier men's and 8 premier women's divisions.
'Rugby Sevens was recently recognized as an official Olympic sport and will be featured at the Summer Olympics 2016,' said Andrew Harris, President Russell Brewing. 'This sport is exploding in popularity and it is exciting to partner with the Abbotsford Sevens as hosts of the first international sevens tournament in Canada.'
Abbotsford Sevens is a two day event held July 24 & 25, held at the Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford. Rugby will be complimented with multicultural exhibitions, live entertainment, the Russell Club House, an ethnic food fair and a family fun zone. A portion of the revenues will also be donated to the Zajac Ranch For Children.
